Scottish Renewable Energy Festival – Question Time Debate at Oban High School

GreenPower took part in a Question Time debate in Oban High School with Geography and Environmental Science students and Eco-club members as part of the Scottish Renewable Energy Festival on 17th September.

On the panel, chaired by GreenPower’s George Baxter, were local councillors Jim Lynch and Kieron Green. Discussion focussed on what actions are needed to reach zero emissions and what individuals, communities, businesses and authorities can do.

Students raised many topics including whether the local council should declare a Climate Emergency, take up of electric cars, recycling, land use and emissions from food production. An article for the local newspaper is being written by one of the students.

Afterwards the panellists helped to judge a poster competition on sustainability. Pictured above is one of the highly commended entries.
